Nike continues its legacy of running innovation with the introduction of the ZoomX Vaporfly 4 and ZoomX Streakfly 2, two updated silhouettes designed to push the boundaries of speed and performance. Both models feature Nike’s proprietary system of speed, a combination of ZoomX foam and a carbon fibre Flyplate, engineered to enhance energy return and responsiveness.
The Lightest Vaporfly Yet
The Vaporfly 4 is the lightest iteration in the franchise’s history, leveraging insights from elite athletes to refine the original super shoe that reshaped the world of distance running. With optimized weight reduction, stability, and responsiveness, the Vaporfly 4 continues Nike’s commitment to precision engineering and race-day performance.
Nike athlete and Canadian long-distance runner Mohammed Ahmed shared his thoughts on the latest update:
"The Vaporfly 4 is the ideal Vaporfly. Nike nailed it. There are so many aspects I love about this shoe: It’s lighter than its previous iteration, more responsive, gives a comfortable ride, has a stable feel, and offers a great fit. Simply put, it’s the perfect combination of carbon to foam in this shoe to date. I love running fast in this shoe."
Built for Speed: The Streakfly 2
Designed for shorter-distance racing, the Streakfly 2 introduces a new aggressive shape, an ultra-lightweight build, and a full-length Flyplate to maximize speed and agility. The model is crafted to provide explosive acceleration and cushioning, making it a versatile option for both training and competition.
Australian middle- and long-distance runner Jessica Hull highlighted the advantages of the Streakfly 2:
"Usually, I would need to switch from sneakers to spikes during interval training to condition my muscles and avoid injury. But the responsive, supportive design of the Streakfly 2 allows me to run all of my fastest reps without having to change into spikes, helping my feet and legs feel fresher the next day."
A Commitment to Racing Innovation
Nike’s ZoomX Vaporfly 4 and ZoomX Streakfly 2 continue the brand’s tradition of advancing performance footwear, blending athlete-driven insights with cutting-edge technology. With a focus on speed, efficiency, and comfort, these models reaffirm Nike’s position at the forefront of racing innovation—giving runners the tools to reach their full potential on race day.
