Shai Gilgeous-Alexander has officially entered the signature sneaker game with the launch of the Converse SHAI 001. Designed in collaboration with Converse Basketball, where he took on the role of creative director in 2024, this model blends performance innovation with Gilgeous-Alexander’s distinct artistic vision.
The SHAI 001 is built for both on-court performance and off-court style, featuring a unibody molded design, a forefoot Nike Zoom Air unit for responsive cushioning, and a radial traction pattern for quick, explosive movements. A standout detail is the locking zipper system, which allows for multiple styling options, working alongside an inner bootie and ghillie lacing system for a custom fit and secure lockdown.
Beyond functionality, the SHAI 001 reflects Gilgeous-Alexander’s personal style and creativity, featuring a puffed upper with a winged shroud, extra tongue padding for comfort, and his signature logo subtly integrated into the design. The sneaker is a statement piece, combining Converse’s basketball heritage with a forward-thinking, futuristic silhouette.
