Gilles Peterson's We Out Here Festival 2024 was nothing short of a magical experience, truly living up to its reputation as a premier celebration of music, art, and community. Set against the stunning backdrop of Wimborne St. Giles countryside, this year's festival seamlessly blended genres, cultures, and generations, creating an atmosphere that was as electric as it was welcoming.
From the moment you step onto the festival grounds, you're immersed in a world where creativity and diversity are celebrated at every turn. The lineup was a masterful curation, showcasing a diverse range of talent from across the globe. Whether it was the soulful jazz performances, the infectious rhythms of Afrobeat, or the deep grooves of electronic music, every stage had something unique to offer. The mix of established legends like Andre 3000, 25 Years of Zed Bias, and LTJ Bukem and emerging artists like Strandz, Sainté and Sampha created a dynamic energy that kept the crowd engaged and excited throughout the weekend.
Highlights of the weekend included CASISDEAD's high energy performance on the Saturday night, Andre 3000 putting on one hell of a show on the Main Stage on Sunday, Aja Monet producing an incredible set on the Main Stage as well - just to name a few. The whole weekend was full of talent across all different genres, showcasing just how good the Festival is for championing music, culture and diversity.
Its sense of community sets We Out Here apart from other festivals. The festival goes beyond just the music, fostering a space where people from all walks of life can come together to share in their love for culture and creativity. Workshops, panel discussions, and art installations added depth to the experience, offering opportunities for learning, connection, and inspiration. The Sanctuary area offers a safe space to relax, with a lake that you can take a dip into, workshops to take part in, and even therapists to speak to.
The festival's commitment to sustainability and inclusivity was also evident in every aspect, from the eco-friendly initiatives to the diverse representation on stage and among the attendees. It's clear that We Out Here is more than just a music festival—it's a movement that champions positive change and collective joy.
Founder & curator Gilles Peterson commented: "I can't express how much I appreciate this crowd and everyone coming together once again. This weekend was a truly unique and magical blend of love, support, and pure joy. This is what We Out Here is all about, and I’m so proud to see it growing year on year! A celebration of club culture, live music with the communities that bond it all together. Massive shout out to a growing number coming in from all around the world. Thank you.”
