In recent years, Jordy has solidified his position as one of the top lyricists in the UK Rap scene. His ability to deliver concise projects consistently, coupled with top-notch instrumentals and substantive bars, has not only garnered him a dedicated fanbase but also earned him recognition from his peers - including some of the biggest names in the game.
The eight-track release kicks off with 'Minimum Wage,' where Jordy candidly delves into the highs and lows of his music industry journey. This track sets the tone, featuring minimal drums and subtle backing vocals, providing ample space for the rapper to deliver his verses.
As Jordy so often does with his releases, this EP offers a diverse range of sounds, enhanced by guest appearances from featured artists. Collaborating with his cousin and frequent partner ELT Cheekz on 'Tour Money, and the highly anticipated 'Wonderkid' featuring JME which injects a surge of energy into the project, with both artists seemingly matching the others levels, bringing the best out of each other on the track.
The production throughout the tape showcases meticulous attention to detail, incorporating soulful samples on 'PLT' and a smooth bass riff on 'The Most Generous.' While Jordy has never shied away from experimenting with his instrumentals, his maturing career has led him to discover a distinctive signature style.
Towards the final stages of 'SNM' Jordy shows just why he has gained the fan base and the traction that he has over the last few ywars. One track - 'Nu Flow' - is where Jordy shows that he can skillfully navigate a beat, delivering a barrage of intelligent bars. The EP concludes with 'Tax Time,' providing a poignant bookend as Jordy reflects on the pressures faced by his family and the challenges of maintaining a rapport with his audience as a rapper.
In an era inundated with lengthy albums containing disposable tracks, 'SNM' is a refreshing shorter release, expertly crafted at every level. Jordy is growing as an artist, and along with that his fan base, and 'SNM' is definitely a good advert for why he is one of the top rappers in his field right now.
