The pilot episode of Link Up TV Originals show 'How I Made It' sees cultural commentator Lin Mei sits down with Dean Forbes to help prove sports, music and the entertainment industry in general are not the only options we have - to make it out of the hood or be successful. This brand new series will see Lin shine a light on successful figures who come from humble beginnings but found their success outside of the entertainment industry.
From very humble beginnings, growing up in both Peckham and Lewisham; Dean Forbes was born to a disabled mother and an absent father. Living in hostels with his single mother and two brothers, twice - due to homelessness, Dean has now amassed a net worth said to be approximately £40M+, with a watch collection worth over £2M. The Powerlist 2020 entrepreneur breaks stereotypes of having to obtain wealth via the entertainment industry and starting his own business. We find out he became a millionaire at 27 from working for other companies and making sure he had equity in them so when they were sold he would be entitled to a percentage of the what it was sold for.
As advertised during the episode, Dean Forbes is offering mentorship opportunities for future leaders and will take up an advisory role in one small business and also allow one person to shadow him to gain an insight into what it takes to be successful in his world. To apply for this opportunity, write a couple of paragraphs explaining why and how you think this could benefit you and your business, and submit it to Lin at info@linmeitalks.com so make sure you get your applications in!
