Reading & Leeds Festival will still be going ahead this August following the government's announcement

Following the Government's announcement, organisers of the Reading and Leeds festival have announced that they'll still be continuing with the festival this year, August 2021. The organisers made the announcement today on Twitter.

This comes after Boris Johnson revealed that from the 21nd of June, if rules were met, we will potentially see all legal limits on social contact removed, with the final closed sectors of the economy reopened - such as nightclubs.
The four conditions that must be met at each phase of lockdown easing are, the coronavirus vaccine programme continues to go to plan, evidence shows vaccines are sufficiently reducing the number of people dying with the virus or needing hospital treatment, Infection rates do not risk a surge in hospital admissions and new variants of the virus do not fundamentally change the risk of lifting restrictions.
Last year, the Reading and Leeds festival had to cancel the concert due to a pandemic. Several other festivals also cancelled their events such as Wireless, the Glastonbury festival and more.
