As we prepare to ease up on lockdown measures, The Met Police has had to deal with a few illegal parties. Wednesday night saw a night of violence in Brixton’s Angell Town estate, where 22 officers were injured and police vans obliterated. Snapchat footage from the night also shows a number of officers being chased out the blocks.
On Thursday night police again came under attack - this time via a group of revellers in Notting Hill who began hurling missiles in their direction.
Commissioner of the Metropolitan Police Cressida Dick said: “We’ve seen large numbers of people completely flouting the health regulations, seeming not to care at all about their own or their families’ health, wanting to have large parties.”
At the moment only groups of up to six can meet outdoors, provided they socially distance.
On a serious note: Coronavirus is still very much alive and well, and we mustn't get into the habit of pretending otherwise.
