Morrisons have reduced their petrol prices to 99.7p per litre across its UK stations.
According to Morrisons, this is the first time since 2016 that petrol has been sold nationally for less than £1 per litre. Diesel prices have also been lowered to a maximum of £1.04p per litre.
Head of fuel at Morrisons, Ashley Myers, said: "We want to play our full part in reducing the cost of living and feeding the nation at this difficult time."
The price collapse has been driven by a collapse in oil prices due to a lower demand as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.
This reduction means that filling a family car is approximatly £7 cheaper than it was two months ago.
