WRITERS BLOCK: Having Sex With Black Men Doesn’t Mean You’re Not Racist

It’s 2018 and this concept is still miles beyond a lot of people.

Recently London based, sex and relationship Oloni discovered an episode of the ‘Guys We F__ked’ podcast. As you can probably tell from the title, the show is essentially two white women Corinne Fisher and Krystyna Hutchinson discussing guys they slept with. In this episode they discuss one of them finally finding a black man to have sex with. There’s a lot of things wrong with this clip, but the most shocking part is the fact that she only sees black men as ‘real black’ if they are thugs.

For a lot of people it’s hard to see how this woman can be a racist, but still happily have sex with a number of black men.
Well sex or ‘love making’ (as some people still call it) has been overstated for years. While it certainly can be an intense unity of souls, the majority of sex that happens around the globe is just that, sex; and it can be about as intimate as a custom order from Starbucks.

Bringing us back to sex and racism. Well in a word, slavery. Slavemasters simply couldn’t keep their hands off slaves, meaning that you don’t remotely have to love, like or even respect someone to have sex with them.

The final and most damming issue behind this woman’s comments is how black men have been viewed as sexual objects for years. And not just in a ‘positive’ way. For centuries black men have been considered sexually aggressive animals and this has been used a justification for slavery. Even without Corinne Fisher and Krystyna Hutchinson’s comments the stereotype still exists today.

‘They are often the kinds of kids that are called superpredators — no conscience, no empathy. We can talk about why they ended up that way, but first, we have to bring them to heel.’ – Hillary Clinton

‘Heel’ like a dog. And despite only 2-8% rape accusations being false (debatable, it’s likely much higher) black men have been wrongfully convicted by all white juries for years.
Based on wrongfully convictions, erroneous eyewitnesses, misconduct by officials, discounted alibis, all because in many minds all black men are rapists.

There are many high profile cases of white women either accusing innocent black men of raping them or the police jumping in and doing that for them. From The Central Park Five, The Scottsboro Boys and many others.

Racist white women have played their role in the demonisation of black men for centuries and don’t let the fact that she slept with one of them make you think it’s any different.

So when challenged with the ‘how can I be racist my best friend is...’ remember racists are quite happy to be friends with, marry and even have children with people they hate, so that isn’t a defence. And with the obligatory IOS apology from Corrine Fisher ask yourself; can a woman who has existed on planet Earth for (then) 28 racist years suddenly learn to see all people of all backgrounds as equal? Or….is she (and the various other celebrities who get exposed for being racist) just apologise and keep their racist comments to their friends so as not to mess up a cheque?
Racists don’t make sense, their politics don’t, so expect their sexual politics to either; just please don’t be the black guy to sleep with one of them.
