Dot Rotten delves into trap on heavy new single ’10/10′

Legendary lyricist Dot Rotten has recently marked his long-awaited comeback to MCing with a slew of new singles, the latest of which is entitled ’10/10′ and dropped last night via his SoundCloud. After several years of producing hits for the likes of Kano and AJ Tracey under his real name, Zeph Ellis, it’s great to hear Dot touch mic once more.

Produced by Scott Supreme and ‘Whippin’ Excursion’ mastermind Scott Styles, the menacing new track sees Dot going on raggo, adopting a gruff tone to silence any MCs who want to test him. As you’d expect from the South London star, he packs the song’s three minutes with memorable metaphors, similes and wordplay. Here’s a taster: “Two guns up to my opps / That’s a big bang theory, man ah just shell den“. The outro samples an old clip of Ghetts singing his praises.

Dot is currently in the midst of exchanging war dubs with grime veteran P Money, and has acknowledged that this song is ‘kinda’ directed at him but not a full-fledged diss track. Coincidence or not, ’10/10′ also happens to be the name of a hit single the OGz frontman released last year. We look forward to hearing the latest developments on this front; Dot is busy writing his latest reply and has promised “it’s about to get peak”.
