Spotify are trialling a new mobile app for Android users that does not allow you to choose a song or artist but it is completely FREE. It’s called ‘Stations’ and it only offers up playlists for you to listen to.

Speaking of the app, Spotify have explained “Stations is the easiest way to listen to the music you love. Totally free”.

With the regular Spotify app, you can play any song or band you like with a paid-for Premium membership or allows you to have a free membership that lets you pick the artists you want to listen to, but only on shuffle mode and with adverts.

Stations is different, because all members will only be able to choose from a pre made list of music playlists.

“When you have access to all the music in the world, finding the right thing to play can feel like a challenge,” says Spotify.

“With Stations, you can listen immediately, and switching stations is simple and seamless – no searching or typing needed.
“As you listen, it learns what you like and creates personalised stations that you’ll love.”

The company calls Stations an “experiment” that will help people “listen to great music”.

The mobile app only appears to be available on the Google Play Store right now, which means iPhone users currently can not download it.

It also seems to be unavailable to download in the UK and USA but apparently Australia now have access and it should be launching in the UK soon!

What do you guys think of this? I am hoping it launches in the UK soon and for Iphone users, because listening to pre dominated playlists can be a good way for discovering new music.
