SCROLL DOWN FOR FULL ARTICLE

Every month, we’ll be speaking to the names behind the beat of some of the hottest UK tracks out now. After all, a song wouldn’t be what it is without the music producer.

This month’s #ProducerOfTheMonth is M1OnTheBeat.

At just 19 years old, M1OnTheBeat has steadily cemented himself as the go-to producer for drill artists and is the man behind some of the most popular songs hailing from the UK right now. Raised in Tottenham, North London – he describes his production as a hobby which turned into something special and serious very quickly.

Do you remember how and when you first started producing? What was the first ever song you produced?

I started producing music when I was 16 years old because I used to see music videos and wanted to take part in producing music, specifically drill.  The first song I ever produced was K Trap’s Westwood freestyle with Young Adz and LB.

What is your favourite track produced by yourself?

Loski – Intro

If you could describe your sound in 3 words, what would they be?

Bassy. Technical. Fluent.

What are your thoughts on production in the UK scene – do you think producers get enough credit?

I think UK scene is good… however UK producers deserve way more credit as they are the foundation of each song.

Your career as a producer launched quite quickly, did you expect this? How does it feel?

I feel very overwhelmed by the amount of music that’s come out and that I’ve been a part of.  I’m excited and wish to do more.

You work closely with MKThePlug, together you’ve produced some of the biggest tracks out right now, how is it?

Working with him is good as we both understand two ways in producing and understand each others ideas and techniques. I think it works especially well because we are friends we can create collaborations in the comfort of our own homes.

Who are your favourite producers?

I get all my inspiration from US artists if I’m completely honest but I am influenced by JAE5.

Who would you say your favourite artist to work with is?

It has to be Headie One.

Tell us something you’re proud about.

My proudest achievement has been knowing I can make legitimate money from doing something that I love to do. It’s motivational and not a lot of young men my age have the opportunity to do that so I’m mad grateful.

As well as a string of sick artists, you work closely with Loski – someone who is taking drill to the next level. How did you guys first work together?

Me and Loski started working together started from Money and Beef and has progressed from then. Wee kept in contact and we’ve continued to communicate, we’ve got bangers.

Is there anyone you haven’t already worked with that you’d like to?

Yeah, I’d like to work with Baseman or Mist.

So, what’s next?

New Music!!
