President Obama Pays Respects To Heavy D At Funeral


The funeral of Hip Hop Legend Heavy D who tragically passed away last week took place in Mount Vernon, New York yesterday with many of Heavy D’s peers and fans alike paying their last respects for the fallen rapper. A celebration of the rappers life had mourners praising his sensitive, generous nature while laughing to friends’ reminiscences.

President Obama who was not able to make the ceremony had sent a letter which was read out by Rev. Al Sharpton expressing his condolences for his family’s loss.

“We extend our heartfelt condolences at this difficult time. He will be remembered for his infectious optimism and many contributions to American music. Please know that you and your family will be in our thoughts and prayers,” 

The likes of John Legend, Q Tip, Usher and P Diddy all attended the ceremony. Diddy went on record stating that the Now That We Found Love rapper was always there for him when he needed him even “at my darkest hour” and “was the first person to believe in me”.

Hev was one of the pioneers of Hip Hop and will be greatly missed by all.
