Premiere: Faith Child Returns With New Single ‘That Was Then’

Faith Child - That Was Then

Hailing from South London the MOBO award winning artist Faith Child has brings us the visuals for his new track, That Was Then, exclusively on The Link Up. The single is taken from his forthcoming third studio album; his last project Airborne was realised in 2015, so we’re excited to see what the future one holds.

The tune itself is based on Faith Child’s come up and exploring how his past advanced into something more successful for the future. The heavy Grime like beat mixes more electronic pop synths and other sounds – which create a solid base for Faith Child’s fast paced delivery. There are sick beat drops in between verses which give off more old school house vibes, giving listeners a chance to get loose on the dance floor as well as take him in. This versatile artist certainly delivered a more upbeat sound in That Was Then. The producer, Alex E, who has previously worked with names like Tinchy Stryder and DJ Blinkie designed a foundation infused with heavy bass.

The visuals open up with Faith Child drifting in a car whilst paying homage to his ends, Thornton Heath, as he spits the lyrics at the camera. He’s styled in an Ellesse zip up and ripped white jeans, as the videographer switches between shots of present him and aspects of the past, again playing on the That Was Then theme. We see school kids playing with Pokemon cards, game boys and water guns. The director Chas Appeti perfectly visualised throwbacks and captured everyday lifestyle features throughout the video.
