Police Issue Warning Over Terrifying Momo Challenge

Momo challenge

There is a terrifying new trend which encourages children to kill themselves, known as the Momo Challenge. The sickening game that targets young children has already been linked to two deaths across the UK, and worryingly the challenge is appearing midway through Peppa Pig, Kids YouTube and Fortnite videos that young children are prone to watching.

The horrific challenge threatens child viewers to obey the dangerous orders that appear on their screen. It has also been reported that children have been told that they will be “killed in their sleep” if they do not contact Momo as instructed.

Detective Sergeant Elaine McCormill said: “This extremely disturbing challenge conceals itself within other harmless-looking games or videos played by children and when downloaded, it asks the user to communicate with Momo via popular messaging applications such as WhatsApp… It is at this point that children are threatened that they will be cursed or their family will be hurt if they do not self-harm.”

We encourage anyone who comes across the horrific challenge to report it on its platform, as well as report it to the police.
