One Africa Music Fest: Afrobeats is big!

What do you get when 10 Thousand Africans come in one building? Well, you do get a few things. Energy, afrobeats, Jollof rice and a rare disease called AT (African Timing).

Why can’t us Africans ever start anything on time? Funerals, weddings and the like. The event was scheduled to begin at 6pm. If it started 20-30 mins late, it would be excusable. The event began at 7:30. Very late.

Dj Spinall on the decks & Dj Obi setting pace on the night. Banky W kicked off the show as the host. Aside from the late start the show really did demonstrate how big afrobeats really is.

Over 10 Thousand at the SSE Wembley Arena. It’s huge! Afrobeats has come a long way. The list of stars featured: Cassper Nyovest, Sarkodie, M.I Abaga, Awilo Longomba, 9ice, Falz, Tekno, Tiwa Savage, Phyno, Olamide, Davido, Flavour and Psquare. The biggest artists right now in Africa taking centre stage.

The highlights of the night was when Davido came out and dropped his biggest single ‘IF’ the crowd went wild.

Afrobeats is at a really good place, it can rise above heights. With it going global, with co-signs from Drake and various other big name artists. Afrobeats is at a good place, where so much people are coming out to see their favourite artists it’s amazing.
