On The Move: Wireless Festival

If you weren’t at Wireless weekend I don’t know what else you were doing! Not only was the line up incredible (as every year!) with Stormzy, J. Cole and DJ Khaled as the main acts, wireless was repping the UK Rap scene hard with appearances from D Block Europe all the way to EO! After the mass controversy created over the lack of female artists, they dedicated an entire sector in partnership with Rinse and Smirnoff to present the baddest group of female rappers and singers of all genres. Included in this line up was Paige Cakey, Trillary Banks and Bad Gyal and loads more in equalising music.

Friday consisted of some amazing performers and surprises! We had Post Malone, PARTYNEXTDOOR, Big Sean and our very own Mabel, Kojo Funds, Belly Squad and Mostack who had to shift his Saturday set to Fridays. DJ Semtex also presented his set with some sick up and coming artists on the Pepsi Max Stage! He bought out Aj x Deno, EO, Just Banco and Big Heath as well as himself spinning the maddest tunes. Saturday was also as wavey, we had Nigeria’s finest Davido opening Saturdays Wireless, whilst Stormzy closed the festival and shut it down. From Shutup to ending the eventful day with Blinded By Your Grace, having the whole crowd in tears. The production was impeccable for the headline acts! Migos, French Montana and A Boogie also killed it! Krept and Konan had the audience popping with throwback bangers like Don’t Waste My Time to their most recent tune in honour of their restaurant opening Crepes And Cones, they even brought out Mostack for the chorus and the people who missed him the day before got to see him. Charlie Sloth also introduced some notable rappers to the Wireless audience. M Huncho, Romzy, Ambush, D Block Europe, Chip and Yung Fume jumped out to shell their sets alongside Charlie Sloth. Not only where the acts wavey, but Wireless decided to stream the World Cup match on the main stage as in interlude between Big Shaq’s performance.

Sunday; I didn’t go, but judging from all the clips I saw on social media platforms it certainly didn’t disappoint! Everyone was in shock due to DJ Khaled’s abrupt announcement and cancellation of his appearance but it was surely made up when Drake came out!? Giggs was performing and out of no where the 6 God appeared and people who lived around the area thought that there was an earthquake from the amount of people jumping and screaming! He also brought out Dave and Baka and it was probably the best thing to experience live but sadly I wasn’t there to see it.

Lets hope the Wireless Festival line up for next year is as successful as this one!
