The 26-year-old US rapper, real name Malcolm James McCormick, who rose to fame in 2011 with his debut album ‘Blue Slide Park’, was found dead in his home in California on the 7th of September.

Today, the coroner toxicology report ruled that his death was the result of a mix of cocaine, alcohol and a powerful painkiller called ‘fentanyl’, which has played part in the massive opioid crisis in the USA. The painkiller is 30 times stronger than heroin and was also involved in Lil Peep and Prince’s death.

The death came shortly after the release of his last album ‘Swimming’.

Last week, a tribute concert was set up in Pittsburgh in Miller’s honour: “Mac Miller: A Celebration of Life”. Some huge names performed there like SZA, Chance the Rapper, Travis Scott and Ty Dolla $ign. The whole concert was live streamed for fans who couldn’t attend and money was raised for arts education in underserved communities.
