Jorja Smith wins British Female Solo Artist at 2019 Brit Awards.

Last night, February 20, was a success for Walsall-bred Jorja Smith as she won the Brit Award for British Female Solo Artist. The singer was overwhelmed, stating: “I didn’t expect this at all. I want to thank everybody out there.”

Her recent win comes three years after she received the Critics Choice Award, and with the rise of her career since then, it’s no surprise that she was nominated for British Female.

Dedicating her award to “girls and women”, Jorja said: “Thank you so much. This is for all of us, for all the little girls and women who are just being themselves and loving everything they are doing.

She also took to the stage to perform a beautiful standout rendition of Don’t Watch Me Cry, leaving viewers in awe at her powerful voice.

Also taking home awards were Little Mix, who won British Artist Video Award for their Woman Like Me collaboration with Nicki Minaj. The girl group also performed at the award ceromony with female rapper Ms Banks; and they killed it!

Congratulations to Ed Sheeran, Calvin Harris and Dua Lipa too, who also went home with Brit awards. Click here for the full list of winners.
