You can only attract fans if they know you are there. In a crowded industry it’s probably a good idea to be consistent to maintain awareness around your music with regular releases and activity. But are these releases hitting the spot? And why should anyone care?

Understanding your fan base is crucial to meeting their needs. Needs they may not have been consciously aware of until you come with that banger that speaks to everything they think and feel. If there is no need or demand for what you are putting out you will not reach a receptive audience.

Everyday we see lyrics from songs become soundbites that are shared in conversation and in memes because they sum up exactly what we want to say. Are your lyrics providing soundbites for people to share? In a fast paced society full of emojis and memes people need soundbites. It associates them with something current and trendy making them cool just for sharing it. This usually happens organically with fans having fun and creating their own entertainment around what you said. When enough people start using a soundbite as part of their everyday language it goes viral and brings attention to the artist and their music.

Everything about you must captivate fans. Musical genres have a set sound, dress code, and language, but what makes you unique as an artist? How are you filling a gap in music fan’s lives that no one else can replicate? The music, subject matter, perspective, and the way it is delivered collectively make up your brand, and your brand is your reputation of what can be expected from you every time.

Captivated audiences engage more deeply and demand music that expresses their daily experiences and reflects their lifestyle and identity. When you have a big vision for what you and your music represent your brand will endure the test of time. Owning this unique position in people’s hearts and minds will give you the opportunity to have a two-way relationship so you can keep hitting the spot again and again.
