Estelle Releases Her Fifth Album ‘Lovers Rock’

West London born singer Estelle has been on a bit of a hiatus given the fact that her last studio album ‘True Romance’ was released in February 2015.

In the time that has passed since that album dropped, she has starred on FOX TV’s hit series Empire, moved to Brooklyn, New York and even scored her biggest hit in America since American Boy (with Kanye West) with the duet version of her ‘Conqueror’ song.

Last year she announced that she was working on a full-length reggae album and this has now manifested in yesterday’s release of ‘Lovers Rock’.

The 14 track effort, which has been described in some quarters as a “concept album” as it leans on her experiences growing up in the middle of the Lovers Rock era, a sound that is steeped in romantic lyrics and amorous soundbeds.

The VP Records/Established Since 1980 Records album boasts features from artists such as Chronixx, Konshens, Maleek Berry, Alicai Harley and many more. Given Estelle’s typically eclectic style and ability to borrow influence from different genres, this ‘Lovers Rock’ album should make for inspired listening.

Despite living across the pond in Brooklyn, Estelle shows no sign of relinquishing her London roots given the bulk of her featured artists.
