Over a decade ago on the 27th June 2005, Grime veteran Kano released his debut album ‘Home Sweet Home’. Peaking at number 36 on the UK Album Charts, Home Sweet Home is Kano’s highest-selling album and third highest-charting album. Having received universal acclaim and an abundance of positive reviews from music critics, Home Sweet Home is considered a classic.

Names like Mikey J, Ghetts, The Streets, Fraser T Smith and Diplo all played a part in the production and success of the album. With notable samples from Black Sabbath and Asha Puthli providing a great basis for a few of the albums songs.

Of the 16 songs featured on the album, 6 singles were released, some of which are the iconic bangers we have come to associate Kano with. Such as P’s and Q’s, Nite Nite, Brown Eyes and Typical Me. Typical Me and Nite Nite both went onto chart as singles, peaking with the top 30 of the UK Singles Charts.

The Made in Manor rapper will go down in history and this album is a great testament to him. Over the years we’ve seen many of the instrumentals that were first featured on Kano’s Home Sweet Home be reused in freestyles, cyphers, tracks and even Youtube intros.

A big congratulations to Kano on the 13th Anniversary of Home Sweet Home, we can only hope for wheel ups on his tunes for years to come!
